The event will be run as follows:
DRY PRACTICAL
• Signals
Demonstrate knowledge of signals. Beach to water & Water to beach signals.
• Radio
Brief demonstration, practice of radio incorporated in CPR below in the DRSABCD ‘S-Send for help’ stage.
• Resuscitation (CPR)
Primary assessment (DRSAB--), continuing into Adult Resuscitation & Defibrillation (-----CD) doing the ‘Preferred CPR Method’ of using a mask.
• Drags & Carries Methods (2024/25 Season Skill Focus)
Demonstration then practice for both unconscious and conscious victims.
- Two-person carry
- IRB carry
- Two-handed seat carry
- Two-person drag
Ensuring: Correct techniques, safe lifting/manual handling, carry to safe location, correct lowering.
WET PRACTICAL**
**Conditions dependant, rescheduled if poor conditions occur.
• Run-Swim-Run
SRC—Unaided: 100m Run-100m Swim-100m Run in 5 minutes or less
BM—Unaided: 200m Run-200m Swim-200m Run in 8 minutes or less
Reasonable adjustment may be made for surf conditions on the day.
This is for those holding ART or ART[AID].
ART - The newest award version.
ART[AID] - The previous award version, still current until end of next season (2025/26).
ARTC - The now expired award, those holding are NOT proficient & must do ART course.
PRACTICAL
The practical will build on the BM CPR, to include use of the following:
• Oxygen Supplementation
• Oropharyngeal Airways
• Bag-valve-mask Resuscitator
The event will be run as follows:
DRY PRACTICAL
• IRB Setup, Packup, Storage.
Brief refresher. Awareness of Powercraft Code of Conduct.
• IRB Driver Calls & Crew Person Body Positioning
Refresher & update.
WET PRACTICAL**
**Conditions dependant, rescheduled if poor conditions occur.
• IRBC & SMIRBD
- Parallel running
- Figures of eight
- Response to signals
- Negotiation of surf as required
- Demonstrate ability to conduct a victim rescue
- Demonstrate ability to carry out a victim lift, exit, carry and lay
Ensuring: Correct techniques, safe lifting/manual handling, carry to safe location, correct lowering.
