Skills Maintenance (Proficiency) for the 2024/25 Season
All patrolling members are required to complete the annual Skills Maintenance for the awards in which they hold to keep your skills up-to-date and learn any new/updated skills.
Online Theory Component
1. Log in to SLSA Members Area: https://members.sls.com.au/
If you do not have an account, click the above link and in the yellow box ‘Click here to create one’.
2. Click eLearning in the navigation bar, click the red box Login to eLearning to be forwarded to the ‘etrainu’ SLSA eLearning Hub.
3. Now on the eLearning home page, click ‘Training Library’.
If accessing via phone, click the 3 grey bars to open the menu first.
4. In the Training Library, you will see ‘Course Categories’. See the first option ‘Skills Maintenance 2024/25’and click ‘View Courses’.
5. Within, there are multiple courses. Only do the course for awards you hold; this will be only ONE course for most members. Patrol Captains and those that hold SMBM or SMPC have an additional.
Click ‘enrol’ on the Skills Maintenance course that applies to you, from:
- Bronze Medallion (BM) Theory
- Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Theory
- Award Member Theory
- Silver Medallion Patrol Captain (SMPC) Theory
NOTE: those who DO NOT hold a Bronze Medallion (or SRC) are ‘Award Members’, for the purpose of the Online Theory Component, i.e You patrol with a First Aid or Advanced Resus award.
6. Once enrolled, the course will open but will now also appear in ‘My Training’ from the eLearning navigation bar. Complete ALL modules within your Skills Maintenance.

Theory Component MUST be completed prior to attending In-Person Practical.
In-Person Practical Component
1. Register in Skills Maintenance Session(s) for the awards you hold. This is also done via the eLearning platform. See steps 1 & 2 in the previous list to access.
On the eLearning home page, this time click ‘Training Event’.
If accessing via phone, click the 3 grey bars to open the menu first.
2. In the ‘Training Event - Calendar’ now on screen, you will enrol in the Skills Maintenance Event(s) for each award you hold. These will be one OR several of the following events types:
- Bronze Medallion (BM) & Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Prac Skills Maintenance
- Advanced Resuscitation Techniques (ART or ART[AID]) Prac Skills Maintenance
- IRB Crew (IRBC) & IRB Driver - Silver Medallion (SMIRBD) Prac Skills Maintenance
3. To enrol, find the date in the calendar to which you will attend(see dates below), then click ‘See all events’ on your preferred date.
4. Now you will see multiple ‘events’ on this day for each award. Find the events you need to enrol in, click ‘Show More’ to see full details. Then simply click the red ‘enrol’ box.
5. Confirm your enrolment by checking you received a confirmation email from SLS Learning and Development. For those with several awards, you are welcome to do on different days.

We can enrol you on the day, but the preference is to enrol as above to get the event promptly completed.
